Homemade Toddler Keepsake Ornaments

My toddler LOVES arts and crafts. I am not a super crafty mom, but I am certainly learning how to be one. This holiday season I think my littles will be old enough to make a few homemade toddler keepsake ornaments, and I am a little excited.

As much as I hate winter, I LOVE Christmas. Everything about it is beautiful. My toddler is finally coming to an age that she can appreciate the holiday a little bit more, or at least the feeling behind it.

I recently wrote a post on Christmas-themed toddler crafts, and while I found a lot of neat crafts, I decided I wanted to do something more personal.

That’s why I spent some time finding the cutest homemade toddler keepsake ornaments I could, and I’m excited to share them with you today.

EASY KEEPSAKE CHALKBOARD ORNAMENT

I have to be honest…I didn’t know that liquid chalk was a thing! These chalkboard ornaments would be a great keepsake, and they are good for all ages. Younger kids will enjoy scribbling pictures, where older kids will enjoy drawing as well as spreading out the chalk paint.

 

FAMILY HANDPRINT CHRISTMAS TREE

Although this family handprint Christmas tree isn’t exactly an ornament, it can certainly be fashioned into one. This is a great option to not only have a homemade toddler keepsake ornament, but it would also be a fun tradition to start.

DIY SILHOUETTE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS FOR KIDS

This DIY silhouette Christmas ornament is super easy to make, and it makes for a great homemade toddler keepsake ornament. I think that idea is pretty unique and we are excited to try this one.

 

FAMILY TIME CAPSULE ORNAMENT

Oh my gosh, I LOVED this family time capsule ornament. Although a younger toddler may not understand the concept, you can start the tradition now and have them join in a couple of years. Definitely one of my favorite homemade toddler keepsake ornaments.

I love snowmen, so this snowman keepsake ornament is one of my favorites. It’s something I think my toddler will enjoy doing, although an older child will be more capable of making a recognizable snowman!

This family “book of kisses” ornament is based on the book The Kiss That Missed. This book gently reminds you of the importance of a goodnight kiss and how you definitely shouldn’t rush it with your littles. I learned about this book during this post, and it’s definitely one we are going to be picking up!

So I actually included this salt dough Santa handprint ornament in my other Christmas craft post. That’s actually what gave me the idea for this post–this was one of my FAVORITES and was such a cute homemade toddler keepsake ornament.

Although I thought this salt dough snowman keepsake ornament was super adorable, I think I would be too scared to hang it on my Christmas tree. My cats tend to knock everything off of the tree at least once, and I worry about it falling onto my baby’s head! I personally think this would be super cute to hang on the wall at Christmas time.

This super cute keepsake ornament is another thing kids of all ages will enjoy. Keep in mind, you may struggle with keeping your toddler from taking it off of the tree and opening it–especially if they put some exciting things in it!

If embroidery is your thing (and even if it isn’t-it’s pretty easy!) this embroidered ornament is pretty cute. Your little toddler will appreciate seeing their artwork displayed on the tree with everything else, and this is something you can do every year.
