Father’s day can be tough when you need to buy a geeky father’s day gift. The majority of “great father’s day gift” posts include a new barbecue, a fancy watch, or a golf club.
But what about the father’s that don’t have an interest in fancy watches, and would get more excited about a Star Trek wrist communicator?
One of the best parts of being a geek is that there is never a standard or expectation to mold to, you’re just a geek. You can geek out on one thing or 10,000 things, it doesn’t really matter.
The challenge is knowing your geek dad.

Star Wars Geek Gifts
This accordian style sunshade will fit most cars, trucks, and SUV’s. Sunshades help block UV rays and keep your car cool during the summer (just in time for Father’s day!)
This is probably one of the neatest sunshades I have ever seen – and they have plenty of options if your geek dad doesn’t dig this scene.
The lightsabers on this mug will magically appear when you pour your hot coffee in them. It’s 12oz and perfect for the Star Wars lover.
This is the mug you’re looking for.
3D Illusion Star Wars Night Light
This night light comes with a remote, seven different colors, and three different patterns. It’s energy saving too.
A night light isn’t for everyone, but I know some of the dad geeks in my life would have a lot of fun experimenting with this.
Unlike many fandom screwdrivers, customers say that these bits are made of strong steel and work great for small projects.
This also makes a great gift for younger kids that are learning to use tools.
Star Wars R2-D2 AC/USB Power Station
This awesome power station has four sockets and two USB adaptors. It’s also officially licensed Star Wars merchandise, so you don’t have to worry about it being the real thing.
Everyone loves R2D2. That’s why this is a perfect geeky father’s day gift – because I don’t know ANYONE who wouldn’t love this.
Star Wars Death Star Waffle Maker
This waffle maker makes seven-inch waffles. It’s non stick, and lights up when it’s at the correct temperature.
It’s not a small moon, it’s a waffle! By the way – if Star Wars isn’t his thing, they have these neato waffle makers in all sorts of shapes to fit your needs.
This clock is handmade from a 12 inch vinyl record (which makes it eco-friendly too!) The seller offers personalized designs as well.
This is probably the coolest clock I’ve ever seen. This geeky father’s day gift would be great for his shop or man cave (or his sewing room, whatever).
Dr. Who Geek Gifts
Doctor Who: A Brief History of Time Lords
This book is a full-color in-world history that pieces together the true story of Gallifrey from the many accounts that survived the Last Great Time War.
If your geek likes Doctor Who and books, this is a must have gift for your geek dad. I have thumbed through it and I can say that it is put together beautifully and has a lot of the timey wimey humor that is common with Time Lords.
These are 2cm by 1cm, so they’re the perfect size for the geek that likes to stay fairly private.
Cufflinks are cool. Kind of like bowties. I’m pretty sure all geek dads would appreciate cuff links in the shape of a TIME MACHINE. Just saying.
This Afghan is 50″x60″, so plenty of room. It’s made of fleece and is an official Doctor Who collectible.
Who WOULDN’T want a new fuzzy soft blanket??
I LOVE playing board games..my husband not so much. That’s why a geek board game is a perfect gift for Father’s day! You can finally get them to actually play a game with you, as long as the theme you’ve chosen aligns with their type of geekiness.
Star Trek Geek Gifts
This bluetooth speaker also doubles as a white noise machine (it makes engine noises – who would have thought?!) It comes with LED’s, sound effects, and good sound quality.
I was impressed to find a bluetooth speaker in the shape of a spaceship. It goes to show that technology has come a looong way. If your guy doesn’t have a bluetooth speaker, get him one. I use mine ALL the time.
This Star Trek puzzle is pretty impressive with its 3000 different pieces. This is the fiftieth anniversary version, and is 32 x 45 when completed.
While this puzzle is really neat, be cautious if he has cats. They will destroy it.
This is an officially licensed Star Trek product. You can grab the yellow and red as well if you prefer. I know a lanyard isn’t that cool – but when I had to wear one I loved having one that I could express myself with.
Starship Enterprise Space Art Print
This geeky father’s day gift is a PRINT not a painting – so keep that in mind. The artist has different options if you want a picture framed or put on canvas, so check it out.
This is Star Trek Van Gogh style…great if he’s into spaceships or depressed artists.
ThinkGeek Star Trek Electronic Door Chime
Motion-sensitive, and featuring a door opening sound effect and a red alert alarm. A push button is available in front for the communicator whistle.
This door chime is modeled after the communication panels in the original series. If he likes to have options, and is a fan of the original series, this is a good geeky father’s day gift for him.
Lord of the Rings Geek Gifts
Gandalf the Gray Lego Figurine
This comes with the staff, ready to build, and two inches tall (cute, right?)
My sister and her husband are big on lego figures..so I’m guessing there’s other geeks out there that would appreciate this. There’s a whole collection, so consider picking up other characters.
These are SO cute – and you can get a whole range of Lord of the Rings characters.
If he works at a desk and doesn’t have a collection of these little guys, it’s time to start one. My husband has a coworker that has his space COVERED in these little figurines. Check it out – there’s something that would work for any geek dad.
Guardians of the Galaxy Geek Gifts
Groot stands 8″ tall in his 3 1/2″ diameter pot. He’s sound activated, and will start dancing if you play music near him. He also has built in music that he’ll dance to (I want you back by Jackson Five).
If the dad in your life has a sense of humor and loves Groot (who doesn’t), this will make a great geeky Father’s day gift for him!
Guardians of the Galaxy Soundtrack
You can grab this as a CD, cassette, vinyl, or mp3.
I don’t know if you remember, but the soundtrack to this movie was AWESOME. Also – the packaging on this is pretty cool.
Here’s another Funko Pop figurine. Rocket stands 3 3/4 inches tall, and makes another great addition to your geek’s collection.
Personally, Flying Rocket was never my favorite but he’s kind of a necessary addition to ANY Guardians of the Galaxy collection.
Fallout Geek Gifts
This cotton blend Fallout shirt gets pretty good reviews, and is nice and simple.
I have to admit…I actually kind of love this t-shirt and may have to buy one for myself. This is one of the few video games I genuinely enjoy playing. If he’s a Fallout fan, I’m sure he’ll love this shirt.
Vault Boy Bobble Head Fallout 4
This Fallout memorabilia is sturdy and is well-made.
The bobbleheads in Fallout are a big collector’s item that can help you progress faster in the game, so maybe he’ll think it can help him progress faster in life too!
These officially licensed magnets (who knew magnets could be licensed?!) include two Nuka-Cola bottle cap logos, the Nuka-Cola space girl mascot, and a magnet for gasoline diesel fusion.
This is another geeky Father’s day gift idea for dads that like to keep their geek under wraps.
Xmen Geek Gifts
I am going to be honest with you. I don’t know if this is a cool edition of an x-men comic, but I do know there are several Xmen comic books out there.
I wanted to include it as a starting point if you know your geek dad may be into comics. Also, there seems to be more comics (and trading cards) than anything else when it comes to xmen.
This dice and card set comes with 44 dice and 38 custom cards.
This is apparently a REALLY cool dice game (better than Pokemon ever was) so it could be fun to learn the game and play with the geek in your life. Note – you apparently may need to watch YouTube videos to learn a good strategy for this game.
Deadpool
There are plenty of different style options on these 16 oz glasses if Deadpool ends up not being your thing. They are made of thicker glass, and come in a set of two.
Overall people seem happy with these – and confirm that the glass on these is pretty sturdy.
Here’s another Funko Pop – Deadpool version. Like most of these figurines, it stands 3 and 3/4 inches tall.
Deadpool has turned into one of my favorite superhero characters. I’m not typically one for such raunchy humor, but he’s pretty lovable.
If your geek is into reading, pick him up one of these Deadpool books. I can’t vouch for the writing, but people seem to like them.
There are plenty of different volumes available, but this one seems to be a little more popular than some of the others.
Batman Geek Gifts
Wanna get something practical? How about ten yards of duct tape – where you multiple design options.
I feel like duct tape is kind of a strange gift–but I really appreciate receiving gifts I will utilize. Duct tape certainly meets the bill, and the Batman design will make you excited to tape something.
You HAVE to check out how many options there are for these toasters! These toasters come with the typical temperature control and hinged crumb tray.
If Batman is your guy’s thing, this toaster will be an excellent gift. Almost everyone loves toast, and I think he will probably smile each time he gets to use this. Not to mention, if you have kids they will think it’s pretty cool.
Superman Geek Gifts
Superman Popsocket
These Popsockets make a great phone stand, and help with texting or taking pictures with one hand. I LOVE my Popsocket and I think EVERYONE should have one.
Check it out – there is a lot of variety if Superman isn’t his thing.
DC Superman 2-Slice ToasterCharacter toasters are a repeat in this post, but I find them really neat and I want you to be aware that you have options.
DC Superman Collectible Statue
This collectible measures 14″ and is a limited edition. Judging by its price point, I would assume that it’ll become a valuable collectible someday.
Overall, if he’s a big superman fan this will be an excellent (plus it’s sturdy!) geeky Father’s day gift.
World of Warcraft Geek Gifts
This collectible set comes with four cups made of heavy plastic.
These are a great buy if you aren’t totally sure what side your partner’s on. Because that’s kind of a big deal and you want to make sure you don’t get them something strictly associated with the enemy.
World of Warcraft Horde Ceramic Mug
Microwave and dishwasher safe, this mug can fit around 11 oz of fluid.
This is a cool looking mug, and perfect if he is part of the Horde. Be sure you know which faction he is, because he may not speak to you for a while if you get it wrong.
World of Warcraft Alliance Ceramic Mug
This is the same mug as the one above, but it’s for the other “side” in World of Warcraft.
If he’s not part of the Horde, he’s part of the Alliance.
Magic The Gathering Geek Gifts
Magic The Gathering Game Day Playmat
This game mat is machine washable and 1/12″ thick. It’s made with a cloth fabric top that has anti-fray edges.
Basically, this is one fo the NICEST game mats you can get your geek player. It’s kind of like..the Subaru of game mats?
This set comes with 20 reversible Magic the Gathering counters. They’re made of metal with an antique silver finish.
These are rather nice looking, and if your geek plays Magic the Gathering these will definitely be put to good use! I used to play and I’m a little jealous of them.
This card case can hold 1,000 unsleeved cards and comes with organizers, shoulder straps, and wrist straps.
If they DON’T have a case, or are still using the crappy cardboard box they got the cards in, it’s worth getting them an upgrade!
Zelda Geek Gifts
This beautiful chess set comes with 32 custom Legend of Zelda figurines that are made out of vinyl, with Link as the white king and Zelda as the light queen (pretty fitting).
This geeky Father’s day gift is unique and the set itself is gorgeous – it’d almost be worth picking up even if you DON’T play chess. Almost.
This beautifully detailed map of Hyrule is pretty impressive. The puzzle has 550 pieces, and the finished size is 18″ x 24″.
Consider gluing it together and hanging it on your wall. Yep, it looks THAT nice.
Legend of Zelda Tri-Force Mirror
Shaped like the legendary triforce, this unique mirror features the following characters: Link, Princess Zelda, and Ganondorf
This is a pretty piece of geek art, even if you don’t like Zelda.
Hand painted, laser engraved, and made of wood. The artist has other options if this clock isn’t your style.
He can be the master of time with this lovely Zelda wall clock. Ocarina not included (another one of my husband’s jokes).
This ocarina is made from ceramic, and comes with a neck-strap cord, music book, display stand, and a protective bag.
It makes beautiful music, is easy to learn, AND is geeky. Good luck trying to get him to stop playing (it’s a thing with ocarina players).
Harry Potter Geek Gifts
Harry Potter Marauders Map Heat Reveal Coffee Mug
This lovely ceramic mug can hold 11 oz of fluid. It’s heat activated, which seems perfect given the theme.
If this isn’t your style, they have plenty of other Harry Potter mug options to look at.
Each piece measures 2-4 inches, and represents a mini recreation of the original wizard’s chess players in the movie and books.
Unlike real wizards chess, the only damage to your geek is to his ego when you beat him.
This lego set features over 6,000 pieces, and will end up being over 25″ tall. There are 27 microfigures included, as well as 5 Dementors, Aragog and Basilisk figures, plus a buildable Hungarian Horntail figure.
Legos are NOT just for kids (really), these are a lot of fun to build and then display afterward.
Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans
These jelly beans come with 20 different flavors, some of which being normal while still including some “creepy” ones.
I feel like these could make for an entertaining evening – if you’re daring enough for it (which I’m not!)
Final Fantasy Geek Gifts
This Moogle light is super cute and functional. It stands a little over 6 inches, and would make a good addition to a collection if he didn’t want to use it as a light.
My husband thinks these are the cutest animated characters. If your husband is a Final Fantasy fan, he’s going to appreciate this geeky Father’s day gift, and the fact that you knew the perfect thing to get him.
These hand cut laser engraved coasters won’t fade on you. These come in a set of four, and include Cloud, Vivi, Cactuar, Chocobo.
These are a great geeky Father’s day option – and I kinda love them for their simplicity.
The Sky: The Art of Final Fantasy
This gorgeous book is almost 12 inches high and is printed on glossy stock. Many Final Fantasy fans LOVE the games for the art – and the drawings in this don’t disappoint.
Your loved one will get to see the illustrations from the first 10 Final Fantasy games in this.
Elder Scrolls Geek Gifts
In this cookbook you’ll have access to over 60 different recipes of meals that are seen in the games.
I can see it being a lot of fun to cook one of the meals, then surprise your geek with the cookbook. Side note – you can get a lot of cookbooks in geek game format now, so if Elder Scrolls isn’t their thing search for something else.
The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Skeletal Dragon Kit
It’s sturdy, easy to assemble, and beautiful to put on display.
This is a great geek Father’s day gift option if your geek likes Elder Scrolls and building stuff. Help him and make an afternoon of it!
Game of Thrones Geek Gifts
Game of Thrones Wine Glass Set
These set of two seventeen ounce stemless wine glasses are perfect if the geek you’re buying for is your partner.
Or your nephew apparently.
A Game of Thrones: The Board Game 2nd Edition
This 3-6 player game is all about taking the iron throne (surprised?) A character, a house, and 10 rounds later you’ll know who won.
When you play the Game of Thrones, you either win or you die.
Random Geek Games
You play this 3-5 player game using cards numbered 1 to 7, each number representing a different hero. During the game, players will pass cards face-down, choosing to gain clues about the nature of the card. ‘
When they receive a card, players either recruit the hero or pass. When a player has 6 different heroes, they immediately wins the game. If there aren’t more cards in the deck and no player has recruited 6 different heroes, the winner is the player who has the most heroes.
This is probably one of my FAVORITE games and I highly recommend it!!
This game is played with 2 to 4 players with elements and disappearing equipment. You have to tackle the dungeon with less and less equipment and fend off the increasing horde of monsters. Beat the dungeon twice or be the last warrior standing to win.
This is made by the same people as Rent a Hero, so it’s a lot of fun.
In this highly-strategic, kitty-powered version of Russian roulette, each player (2-5) draw cards until someone draws an exploding kitten, at which point they explode and are out of the game — unless that player has a defuse card. These defuse the kittens using things like laser pointers, catnip sandwiches and belly rubs. All of the other cards in the deck are used to mitigate, move, or avoid exploding kittens.
This game was developed by The Oatmeal and is probably my second favorite game ever.
This game is kind of like the grown-up version of Apples to Apples. Each round, one player asks a question from a black card, and everyone else answers with a white card that they think is most relevant.
Definitely keep this one away from the kids – it’s a geeky Father’s day gift for terrible people. 😉
I found this game really interesting, and I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to try and explain. It is designed for 3–6 players aged 12 and up, this board game features multiple scenarios, a different lay-out with every game. You are all on the same side, until a period in the game where someone turns against everyone else and tries to kill them.
It’s a different game almost every time you play it – so it’s definitely a lot of fun.
Additional Geek Dad Gift Guide Tips
What kind of geek dad is he?
Geeks come in all sorts of different “levels”:
Mega-geek, kinda-geek, sorta-geek, closet-geek, loud-geek, scary-geek and oddly nerdy-geek.
Most geeks work in the nerdy technology world. Getting him a toy for his desk or some awesome bling to show off to his co-workers, that’s a ton of fun for him.
Some more reserved, quiet geeks will only want to engage in their geeky-ness behind closed doors in the comfort of their own home…
Geeky Father’s Day Gift Considerations
For geeks that travel often, consider comic books, or high-end noise-canceling headphones. Just something small and lite for him to geek out to. Avoid “hard to find” collectible items. Nothing worse than losing a gift while traveling.
Once you narrow it down to the theme you would like to go with, you also have to consider what their preferences are regarding the different fandoms.
Some geeks love all Star Trek, while others only like the old TV show and hate the sellout movies with a burning passion.
Some Whovians just like the 10th doctor on, while others don’t think you are a true Whovian if you haven’t seen the entire series that started in the sixties.
Wrapping up Best Geek Father’s Day Gifts
Different stroke, different folks. Either way, I do hope you can get some use out of this and have fun with shopping for a geek father’s day gift for your loved one.
Don’t worry, you got this!
