Anytime I hear someone start listing off country names for boys, I realize that I have a soft spot for those type of names. And while I don’t have any boys in our household at this time, I find myself often adding to my list of southern country baby names. While I’m not technically “country” or from the southern parts of the state, I’m still intrigued enough by all the adorable baby boy names out there that I’m constantly adding more and more to my list.

Ace: (French) Meaning “a unit”, which is actually quite perfect for a name. When you’re introducing a newborn son into your family, you’re welcoming a whole new unit.
Asher: (Hebrew) When I hear this name, I immediately think of trees or volcanoes erupting. But in all reality, this name actually means “happy”.
Austin: (English) This might be a city in Texas, but don’t let that fool you. The meaning of this country boys name is also “great and magnificent”.
Bailey: (English) While this country western boy name means “berry clearing”, don’t judge a name by its meaning. This newborn boys name is actually getting more and more popular every year.
Ben: (Hebrew) If you’re a fan of the TV show Friends, then you know that this is the name of Ross’s son. And if you’re not a fan, no sweat. All you really need to know is that this boys name means “son of the south”.

Billy: (French) As you might already know, I’m a fan of country boy names that are also two syllables. While this name is often shortened from William, it’s meaning is “resolute protector”.
Bo: (Swedish) Meaning “to live”, this name is a great country name for boys. It’s quite often shortened from Beaufort or longer names like that and can also be spelled Beau. The spelling just depends on how the parents want to spell it.
Braydon: (English) Give your newborn son a name meaning “broad space”. This name was meant for the country for the open fields and pastures.

Bryce: (Scottish) Meaning “alert”, you can be certain that this is one really cute unique southern boy name.
Blake: (English) This boys name has been made a lot more famous lately because of the famous country singer, Blake Shelton. It’s a fun boys name that means “son of lake”.
Blaze: (German) Meaning “torch”, you can bet that this name is certain to light up your life. It’s also a great way to reference speed as well.
Brady: (Irish) This boys name means “spirited” and isn’t that the truth of most little boys? Also, if you happen to be a football fan, you can totally use Tom Brady’s last name as the first name of your new son.
Brooks:(English) Anyone a fan of the old country duo Brooks and Dunn? If so, this just might be the perfect name. And if you like it for its meaning of “stream”, that’s pretty great as well.

Caden: (Arabic) Meaning “friend”, you’ll find out that your little boy is always that. No matter where he is or what he’s doing, you’ve always got a friend in him.
Cash: (English) It’s no surprise that this name means “money” but I tend to think more towards the famous Johnny Cash on this one. Who knows? Maybe your son will grow up to be a famous country legend just like he is.
Cedric: (Celtic) Meaning “bounty”, this name just sounds powerful and strong. And even though it might sound unique, you may just find out that it’s gained more popularity since the fame of Cedric the Entertainer.

Charlie: (English) Every man might wish that their name meant this, but this country name for boys actually means “free man”. And hopefully, he’ll have a free spirit to go right along with it.
Chuck: (English) Often shortened for Charlies or Charlie, this first name still has the same meaning of “free man”. It’s just a different variance on the name and doesn’t have to be just a nickname.
Clint: (English) Meaning “hilltop town”, this name just screams country to me. And obviously, the first name that pops into my mind is Clint Eastwood, of course.

Cole: (English) Even though it’s spelled differently, this name means “coal”. But if you ask me, the different spelling of this name is what makes it stand out and be unique.
Colton: (English) Meaning “settlement”, think of your little boy as creating a new routine in your family that everyone settles easily into.
Cy: (Greek) This boys name means “Lord” is sounds quite fancy, right? Once you find out the meaning, it makes this name move up a bit on your list.
Dane: (English) Meaning “dweller in the valley”, this southern baby name is quite unique. I actually think of the dog breed, Great Dane when I hear this name which then leads me to think of tall and protector.
Dallas: (English) Another great city from Texas that makes an awesome first name for boys. Meaning “dwelling”, you can be certain that tons of parents dwell on naming their newborn son this name.

Duke: (English) Meaning “leader”, there’s a reason that other countries use this as a term for royalty. While we don’t have royalty here in the US, it’s a fun name to choose for that purpose, regardless.
Edgar: (English) This boys name means “powerful” and you’ll often hear this name when families with money or power have a son.
Eli: (Hebrew) Meaning “my god”, this could be a great choice if you want to have your religious beliefs incorporated with the name of your child.
Forrest: (French) Literally meaning “dweller near the woods”, this southern name for boys can be a fun name to give. And maybe your son will grow up to be a true tree hugger and lover of Earth, too.

Grant: (French) Meaning “grand”, your newborn son is certainly going to be. And if you’re asking me, this name just sounds really fancy, too.

Rick: (French) Shortened often from Richard, this boys name means “brave ruler”.
River: (Latin) Meaning “riverbank”, this boys name is actually used as a girls name as well. However, it’s quite a bit more common for boys as compared to newborn girls.
