Pregnancy is the best time to go ahead and watch all of the best pregnancy movies. Personally, I was pretty lucky in both of my pregnancies.
I didn’t experience a lot of the common uncomfortable pregnancy symptoms. I think the worst thing I probably experienced was heartburn.
Admittedly, the heartburn was pretty terrible.

I literally had to sleep sitting up so I wouldn’t die from choking on my own acid. I definitely don’t miss that.
I mean, I was tired most of the time. I think that’s true of all newly pregnant moms. Sorry to say, I hear that doesn’t end for another eighteen years.
We are only three years in with our oldest, and I am already tired.

Anyway. I think being tired (as I am sure you are!) means that you should probably watch all of the best pregnancy movies.
You’ll find that you will have a connection with many of the characters. It’s a great activity that will help you feel less alone about your situation.
BEST PREGNANCY MOVIES
I will admit, I have not SEEN all of these pregnancy movies–but I have watched most of them. The rest came as recommendations from other preggo friends.

JUNO
This quirky movie is about a sixteen year old pregnant girl who planned to get an abortion, but at the last moment changes her mind.
She ends up finding a family to place the baby with, but there are a lot of problems along the way.
This is a slice of life quirky film and I personally think it’s one of the best pregnancy movies personally.
If you haven’t seen this–you definitely need to!

WATCH THE TRAILER HEREBABY MAMA
This movie is about Kate–a baby hungry career woman whose struggling with fertility. She decides to hire a surrogate to carry her baby.
She picks a broke surrogate who has “loose” morals in comparison to Kate. Spoiler alert–she ends up being pregnant with someone else’s baby.
It’s a hilarious story that is heartfelt and will have you loving the characters at the end.
Typically this is not my kind of movie, but despite it’s flaws it IS pretty hysterical and it has enough of a good story that I enjoyed it.

WATCH THE TRAILER HEREBABIES
Babies is a documentary that follows four babies (at the same time) around the world for their first year.
The four babies come from Opuwo, Mongolia, Tokyo, and California.
It’s SUPER neat seeing the diversity that exists between these four–but also the similarities that exist in all families.

WATCH THE TRAILER HEREBRIDGET JONE’S BABY
This is the sequel to the awesome Bridget Jones’ movie, so if you love her character already, you will probably like this film.
This movie focuses on what happens when Bridget’s focus on single life and her career is changed when she finds herself pregnant.
The kicker is–she doesn’t know who the father is.

WATCH THE TRAILER HEREBOSS BABY
Okay, I know this is an animated film–but it’s still kind of cute.
This is a story about a boy who is perfectly content being an only child, only to find out that his mother is pregnant.
Once the baby arrives, it turns out the baby is not a typical baby. He is on a mission to save babies from being replaced by puppies.
I know this looks very silly, but it seriously brought me to tears when I was pregnant with my second.
I was TERRIFIED of how a sibling would affect my oldest, and this movie brought all of my worst fears to fruition.
For me, this was one of the best pregnancy movies I watched–but it’s not for everyone. 😉

WATCH THE TRAILER HERE40 WEEKS
This pregnancy documentary is rather unique, as it is full of interviews of multiple pregnant women throughout the different stages in pregnancy.
Every single pregnancy is going to be unique, and I think this movie is unique in helping you not feel alone, despite your individual struggles.

WATCH THE TRAILER HEREBAD MOMS
This hilarious film is about three under-appreciated and overworked moms who are pushed beyond their limits (which is EVERY mom I’m pretty sure!)
The name pretty much tells all.
These moms decide to “rebel” and go out and have fun–with all responsibilities out the window.
You then get to see the fallout and how they handle it.
It’ll be a while before you are at that point where you need to revolt (hopefully!) but it’s a lot of fun to watch.

WATCH THE TRAILER HERETHE BUSINESS OF BEING BORN
This documentary was filmed after a actress Ricki Lake had a disappointing birth experience teamed up with the filmmaker Abby Epstein.
They explore the maternity care system in America, and shows that there is much to distrust behind hospital doors.
This movie is critical of our emphasis on medicine in childbirth, and how it looks as childbirth as a medical emergency instead of a natural occurrence.

WATCH THE TRAILER HERENINE MONTHS
This romantic comedy is about a man (Simon) who’s afraid to commit and his long term girlfriend, Rebecca. After five perfect years, they find out that Rebecca is pregnant.
Rebecca is excited while Simon is not, and this movie is about their struggles. Don’t worry–it has a happy ending.
This is a movie from the nineties, so expect some “old-fashioned” humor from it.
Where to find it: Amazon Prime (rent or own)
WATCH THE TRAILER HEREKNOCKED UP
This movie is about a one night stand that accidentally ended in pregnancy. She (Alison) is a hardworking career woman and he (Ben) is the stoner type.
It’s a heartwarming (and kind of inappropriate) film where they start the task of getting to know each other and preparing for a baby.
I really enjoyed this one back when it was released, but you definitely need to be prepared for the inappropriateness of it.

WATCH THE TRAILER HERETULLY
Tully is a pretty new movie, and it comes from the same director as Juno (so it’s prob really good!)
This movie is about a New Yorker names Marlo who is about to give birth to her third child. She is overworked, overwhelmed, and overtired–which her husband is clueless to.
Her brother hires her a night nurse, and Marlo ends up forming a special bond with him.
Although the synopsis of this movie may seem lacking, it’s been touted as a pretty amazing movie.

WATCH THE TRAILER HEREAWAY WE GO
This movie is about a man (Burt) and his pregnant girlfriend (Verona) who decide to go on an adventure to find the perfect place to raise a family.
Their original plan to move close to family failed when his family was going to move away. They end up continuing to search for the “right” place and finding out that location is not what makes something home.
Overall it’s a quirky, cute, drama filled with some humor. It’s worth a watch.

WATCH THE TRAILER HEREMOTHERLAND
This Sundance medical pregnancy documentary explores the hospital procedures set forth for a maternity ward in the Philippines.
Personally I think it’s always beneficial to see the way other cultures do things, and it’s especially interesting (albeit a little sad) to see the concessions that have to be made in a impoverished society.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING
This romantic comedy follows five expectant couples throughout their pregnancy.
The characters end up meeting each other throughout the film, and we find that all of the stories are linked.
Although the cast is pretty awesome, the story left some to be desired. If you’re just looking for something light and funny, this is a great pic. If you are hoping for more substance–there’s not a ton of that.

WAITRESS
This is your basic rom com based on Jenna, who is a pregnant and unhappily married waitress.
She ends up falling for a newcomer in her town, and becomes part of an “unlikely” relationship to try and be happy again.
I loved this movie because it has Nathan Fillion–who is probably one of the best (and most handsome) male actors ever.

FIRST COMES LOVE
I seriously love documentaries, and this movie about pregnancy is no different.
This is about a 41 year old single woman who wants a baby. She ends up deciding to against societal norms and goes through IVF to have a baby.
This documentary is intimate, as it is shot by and about Nina (the pregnant woman). It is unique and IF you happen to be an older pregnant woman, you can probably relate to her struggles.

MAYBE BABY
Sam and Lucy are a married couple who want a baby more than anything. They try everything, but are still unable to conceive.
This is the funny story of all of the different things that they try to get pregnant at the same timet hat Sam decides to write a comedy about a couple trying to get pregnant.
Lucy hates and forbids this from happening, which causes tension in the relationship.
I love that Sam is played by Hugh Laurie (and it seems odd to imagine him as NOT House), which is enough reason for this to make it on the list of best pregnancy movies.

RAISING ARIZONA
Okay, this one is a little odd.
This movie is about an ex con and police woman that marry. They soon find out they are unable to have a baby of their own, so they steal a quintuplet from a furniture tycoon.
It’s full of chases, fight scenes, and getaways. It’s well-choreographed and funny.

LABYRINTH
This movie is about a sixteen year old girl who has her baby brother stolen by the goblin king. It follows her adventure through a Labyrinth as she tries to rescue her baby brother.
This was my favorite childhood movie (and one of the best pregnancy movies that isn’t ACTUALLY about pregnancy), and if you haven’t seen it–you are missing out!

LOOK WHO’S TALKING
Mollie, who is a career woman has an affair with a married man. She ends up pregnant and alone when he leaves her to raise their baby.
She ends up meeting a taxi driver whom she falls in love with. Throughout the movie, her newborn baby’s voice is narrated through voice over.
My husband made mention of this one (because apparently it’s kind of classic) and so that’s why it made it on our list of best pregnancy movies.

FATHER OF THE BRIDE 2
This funny and heartwarming pregnancy movie is a sequel of Father of the Bride.
Steve Martin is charming in this story (as he always is) about dealing with both his daughter and wife pregnant at the same time.
This has been said to be one of the better sequel’s to a movie, although users feel it is pretty predictable.

IN THE WOMB
If you are a visual person that wants to understand the growth of your baby inside of you, In The Womb is an excellent documentary for that.
This movie about pregnancy is from National Geographic, and that’s enough to know it’s going to be an accurate, quality film.
There are some segments with real 4-D ultrasound and the rest is done with digital recreation. There’s nothing wrong with the recreation however, and it’s actually a little more detailed and easy to understand.
